As one of the original 13 colonies, South Carolina and the Charleston area played an especially important part in our nation’s founding, as well as its fight for independence. Charleston, South Carolina was chosen as one of four key cities to host national commemorations for the United States' 250th anniversary of independence, alongside Boston, Philadelphia, and New York. 


Join us as the nation embarks on a year of celebration and reflection, as we approach our 250th anniversary. This celebration seeks to honor our nation’s past, remember the contributions of countless brave Americans, and celebrating the future every American will help to create. 


In addition to the exciting 250th National anniversary, Patriots Point Naval Museum will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the coming year. The USS Yorktown will also have additional events and celebrations throughout the coming year. Proving to make Patriots Point a primo destination for history lovers.
